Last few days in Scotland

Daniel and I have been back in the US for two months now and I am just now finishing up our "Last Few Days."  Sorry.   Spending time with family, moving across the country, and having a full time job really makes time fly. But here it is!

Leaving Scotland was a very bitter sweet time for us.  While we were both excited to go back to the states to see friends and family, a "chapter" of our lives was closing-- a very exciting chapter.  We really wanted to make the most of it.

(Apparently, I already updated the blog on these few days.... but I didn't want to delete it!  Oh well.  Some people get to read it twice.)
We took lots of walks to Princes Street Garden (on days when Mother Nature decided to pour out her revenge against the world)

I don't know what they were getting ready to celebrate--100 years of something-- but we would watch the gardener make these beautiful designs out of plans.  The big circle is a clock AND the hands actually worked!

We also went and did an Edinburgh "underground" city tour.  This is where they took us in the vaults under the city that use to be residence homes because there wasn't enough room above.  It was nuts.  A lot of crazy body snatching and crimes went on down here.  Now, 100's of years later, it's a place where a lot of "paranormal" activity happens.  It was freaky, but I didn't embarrass myself too much.  PS.  There were a lot of crystal-like things that formed on the ceiling (like in a cave). One of the main ingredients: human pee.  Gross.

We also hiked to the top of the real Aurthur's seat.  Visited the castle ruins in Holyrood Park.  Saw lots of bull thistles (Scotland's flower-- also the flower I did a book report on in the fourth grade).  And took in the view.

Naturally, it started raining immediately after we got off the mountain, and we were drenched by the time we got back to our flat.  Oh well.  We loved it all the same.
